During 2022, artists from the Wye Valley, Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Liverpool City Region took part in creative labs to explore the properties and creative potential of bamboo. They were joined by international partners who shared their expertise.
As part of a Bamboo Creative Lab for Wye Valley River Festival, local designer-makers Beck Prior, Simon Cooper and Zoe Dunn met Orin Hardy from BambooU, Rebecca Reubens from Rhizome, Bernice Dapaah from Ghana Bamboo Bikes and artist-maker Lou Jones to inspire and inform their explorations with bamboo.

Further bamboo creative labs took place in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Liverpool City Region. The participating artists, designers and engineers then led creative bamboo-based projects in their local communities.
